Consistently ranked among the top computer science programs in the nation, the Allen School is recognized for the excellence and impact of our research and teaching.The Allen School has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Program Manager, K-12 Outreach.The Senior Program Manager for K-12 Outreach (Program Operations Specialist) is part of the Diversity & Access team within undergraduate student services at the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington.The Diversity & Access team reflects a commitment to supporting students from groups who are underrepresented in computing, including women, African American, Hispanic, American Indian, Native Hawaiian, Native Pacific Islander, and students with disabilities.The Senior Program Manager will be involved in all Diversity & Access team-led K-12 outreach activities, often in development, facilitator, and supervisory roles. This includes supervising one professional staff member in charge of large K-12 outreach events & summer programs and supervising the Allen School student ambassador team.Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Diversity & Access, this position will oversee the Allen School Diversity & Access Team K-12 Outreach Programs, developing and implementing a strategy and assessment plan in alignment with Allen School DEI&A goals.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administration and Strategic Planning of Allen School K-12 Outreach Efforts
  • Develop a K-12 outreach strategy that aligns with the Hopper-Dean grant foundation priorities, the Allen School Broadening Participation Plan, and DEI&A Strategic Plan.
  • Create and implement an assessment plan for outreach efforts including evaluation and improvement processes.
  • Update and maintain Allen School outreach webpages and documentation.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for Allen School faculty, staff, and student groups leading K-12 outreach efforts.
  • Lead a weekly K-12 outreach committee meeting.
  • Directing the Allen School ambassador program
  • Hire, train, and supervise a team of 10-15 student employees annually.
  • Lead weekly meetings to coordinate Ambassador projects and events.
  • Establish and track ambassador objectives and measurable goals.
  • Oversee the design of ambassador K-12 and community college outreach activities.
  • Train ambassadors on effective counseling and interaction with high school students.
  • Oversee all ambassador K-12 outreach activities.
  • Coordinate with the Recruiter for Diversity & Access for scheduling ambassador events.
  • Register ambassador-led programs in the UW Youth Programs system.
  • Supervision of K-12 Outreach Large Events & Summer Programs Coordinator
  • Hire, train, and supervise one professional staff member in charge of large K-12 outreach events and summer programs.
  • Provide direction and guidance on all K-12 outreach large events and summer programs.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for outside partners.
  • Establish relationships with high schools, community-based organizations, and UW partners
  • Build sustainable relationships with high schools and organizations in the Puget Sound region.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts with partner schools/organizations.
  • Measure progress of relationships with partner schools/organizations.

  • Responsible for purchasing and tracking K-12 outreach expenses.
  • Attend NCORE (or another related DEIA) conference annually.
  • Other duties assigned by the Assistant Director for Diversity & Access.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, STEM, or related field.
  • At least 4 years of related experience.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Cultural competency and experience working with low-income, first-generation, and BIPOC students.
  • Experience working with high school students.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage heavy workloads.
  • Experience organizing and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn administrative tools and systems.
  • Ability to travel throughout the greater Seattle area.
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive environment.
  • Understanding of student development through working with student leaders.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, STEM, or a related field.
  • Experience designing and leading STEM activities.
  • Interest in improving student access to computing in K-12 and beyond.
