POSITION TITLE: Building Enclosure Designer (Intern
Architect)

POSITION DUTIES:
Prepare architectural plans, sections, elevations, details,
presentation materials, and other drafting tasks under the
direction of project architects, licensed engineers, and senior
designers. Work with licensed design professionals and technical
field staff to produce building enclosure construction drawings and
illustrations for new buildings as well as existing buildings
undergoing repair or renewal. Maintain the organization of paper
documents and digital drawing files for projects she is
specifically involved. Support the development of building
enclosure design recommendation documents such as matrices and the
supporting graphics for these documents. Produce these documents
under the direction of a senior designer. Produce depictions of
building enclosure elements such as walls, roofs, floors,
balconies, decks, below grade assemblies, and window and door
systems. Accurately describe various building enclosure and
construction related materials in construction document such that
the building can be built as designed. Produce drawings that
correctly describe the layers of the building enclosure responsible
for controlling air exchange, heat flow, liquid water (e.g., rain
water), and water vapor movement between the indoor and outdoor
environments of a building. To produce these drawings an
understanding of building construction, materials, and general
installation practices is required. Meet with RDH design
professionals to review drawings and redlines and provide document
production updates. Use a commercial computer-aided design and
drafting software application called AutoCAD; a pdf application
with sharable and live editing markup and tracking features and
quantity take off ability called Bluebeam Revu; and various
Microsoft Office applications (including Microsoft Word, Outlook,
Excel, Publisher, and Skype for Business) to perform her
duties.
Telecommuting available up to 75%.
May require travel to client sites in Seattle MSA up to 25%.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
--- Master's degree, or foreign equivalent in Architecture,
Architectural Design, or a closely related field; and 1 year of
experience performing architectural design, including 1 year of
experience in each of the following:
--- Development of presentation drawings for architectural
projects;
--- Preparation of graphic design and construction elements for
reports and technical documents;
--- Streamlining the architectural design process from conceptual
design to overall completion of projects;
--- Site measurements and field surveys of existing buildings;
--- Exploring alternate design approaches, as directed by project
architect, designer, or project manager; and,
--- Performing architectural drafting, design, and graphic design
tasks or projects in support of engineering or building design
endeavors.
Experience must also include one year of experience (via work
and/or coursework) with Building and Energy Code Interpretation and
Coordination.
Experience and education can be gained concurrently.
LOCATION OF
EMPLOYMENT: Position at RDH Building Science Inc. located in
Seattle, WA; FT 40 hours/week. Telecommuting permitted up to 75% of
the time. May require travel to client sites in Seattle MSA up to
25%.
SALARY: $79,643 - $92,000 per year.
